Quark has announced the availability of App Studio for Quark Publishing System that the company says will help publishers create and publish custom iPad apps.
Quark senior vice president of product management PG Bartlett said the Publishing System gives publishers a cost-effective and manageable solution for publishing to the iPad that puts designers, rather than programmers, in control.
The company claims designers can create digital publications directly within QuarkXPress 8.5 and can add sound, video and interactive features to their designs.
Quark Publishing System automatically builds and publishes the digital publications and makes them available to the custom app, said the company.
Customers can avail a free trial of App Studio. They will be able to preview publications within Quark’s free Preview App on the iPad or in the iOS Simulator on their Mac.
App Studio for Quark Publishing System priced at £2,500 includes the Starter Application and a license to produce an unlimited number of apps for the iPad.
Customers also need to pay a license fee to publish their digital issues.
