Oracle is expanding its cloud infrastructure with the addition of four new cloud data centres in various locations in Canada and Germany.
With the move, the number of Oracle’s data centres will reach to 17, which are expected to support the company’s Application, Social Platform and Infrastructure Services that are available for subscription.
The company plans to make the data centres online by the second quarter of 2014 and offer Oracle application-as-a-services from them.
In addition, the new data centres are expected to support the company in addressing customers’ requirements, while being compliant to the local data residency and regulatory standards.
Oracle president Mark Hurd said the company operates a mission critical cloud, and understands that cloud services need to deliver more than its breadth and depth of cloud service functionality.
"Oracle also delivers on the requirements of enterprise IT, including important corporate and regulatory requirements around data privacy and security," Hurd added.
"We are excited to announce this expansion as further commitment to our global customer base and their data residency requirements."
The Oracle Cloud delivers SaaS applications including Human Capital Management, Customer Experience, and Enterprise Resource Management featuring built-in business intelligence, social, and mobile capabilities for the enterprises.
