Twitter has rolled out a new tablet-optimised Android application, which cashes in on the tablet’s larger screen to view tweets, conversations, trends and accounts.
Initially launched exclusively for Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1-2014 edition, the new app would be extended to other Android tablet devices by the end of 2013.
The app boasts of a two-column landscape layout, taking more advantage of the greater screen real estate offered by tablets, and seems to be similar to the iPad’s Twitter interface.
The new app allows expanding tweets to view photos, videos and article previews towards the right hand side of the screen via tapping, while users can also view photos, play videos or read links from the web in full screen mode by further tapping.
Offering country-specific breaking news, music, sports and photos, the new app also lets users to favourite or retweet from the widget itself.
