Micron Technology, a provider of advanced semiconductor offerings, has unveiled a new portfolio of advanced RealSSDTM solid-state drives (SSDs) for flash-based notebook market.
The new suite of RealSSDTM SSD incorporates the company’s 25 nanometre (nm) NAND flash technology, to create a portfolio of capacities ranging from 64 gigabyte (GB) to 512GB.
The company said that the drives will be available in 1.8inch and 2.5inch form factors.
The product suite supports the SATA 6Gb/s interface, which opens up the data path between the host processor and the SSD delivering improved overall system responsiveness.
Micron said that the new drives reach read speeds up to 415 megabytes (MB)/second, and the new 512GB drive achieves up to 260 MB/second write speeds.
In addition, the new SSDs also provide benefits that desktops, workstations and industrial applications can take advantage of, including low power consumption, lightweight construction and resistance to shock and vibration.
Micron memory system development vice president Dean Klein said SSDs are bringing excitement back into personal computing and the company is accelerating this enthusiasm with their new RealSSD portfolio.
