Sky has launched new set-top boxes featuring Wi-Fi capabilities.

The new Sky+HD and Sky+HD 2TB boxes can be connected wirelessly to a home WiFi network, enabling instant access to Sky’s On Demand services such as viewing the past 30 days of TV, new box sets and several movies from Sky Movies and Sky Store.

The broadcaster also claims that the Sky+HD 2TB box offers additional personal storage, by allowing people to record three times more HD TV than rivals.

Sky said in a statement that existing customers who have not yet used On Demand can receive a free On Demand connector.

"This connector will allow them to easily connect their set-top box to their WiFi network, giving them instant access to hours of additional entertainment," the broadcaster said.

Sky will allow users to store about 350 hours of HD content and will also expand the number of TV box sets available.
