Facebook is reportedly in talks with Apple and Microsoft to bring its recently unveiled Home app to iOS and Windows.

Earlier this month, Facebook introduced software, called Home, for Google’s Android operating system.

Facebook director of product Adam Mosseri told Bloomberg the social network is in negotiations with the firms about expanding the platform to their smartphones and said that talks are ongoing and nothing has been finalised.

"We’ve shown them what we’ve built, and we’re just in an ongoing conversation," Mosseri said.

"We could also just bring some of the design values to the iOS app," he said. "That might be how it ends up. Or we could build just the lock screen."

Facebook Home is a skin that sits on top of Android and which the company says makes a mobile home screen centred on people rather than apps.

Features of the include Cover Feed, which replaces the traditional Android home screen and allows users to swipe through photos and status updates posted by their contacts.
