Microsoft has introduced its Universal Mobile Keyboard which is compatible with Windows, iOS and Android tablets and smartphones, reflecting the company’s upcoming cross platform initiative.

The $79.95 keyboard is compatible with smartphones and tablets that have Bluetooth HID (Human Interface Device) keyboard support.

It is 0.47 inches thin, weighs 12.875 ounces and it is compatible with stand fits devices 10mm or thinner.

The keyboard is powered by a rechargeable battery which can facilitate up to six months of usage on overnight charge, and ten minutes of charge will allow users to use the keyboard for a full day.

It will come with a stand to make the work process easier, and when shut it can act as a protective layer against damage.

The keyboard has Android Home key, Media keys and cmd key which is usually found on Apple keyboards.

The company estimates that users will be able to type double the words per minute compared to the on-screen keyboard available in the devices.

Apart from the keyboard Microsoft has also launched an Arc Touch Bluetooth Mouse and a Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500 Limited Edition.
