Aircraft maker Boeing has developed a ‘blackphone’ smartphone for government agencies and security contractors that can encrypt calls and self destruct.
The new device, which runs on the Android operating system, is claimed to erase all data and deactivate if any attempt is made to tamper it.
The Crypto Engine hardware in the phone protects stored and transmitted data while its patform modules provides secure key storage.
The Boeing Black phone will be available for government agencies and security companies related to defense and homeland security, according to a filing submitted by the company to the Federal Communications Commission.
The company, which has kept all technical information a secret, said the device features tamper proof covering, while the casing is said to trigger functions that would delete the data and software of the device and make it inoperable.
Other features of the spy-gadget like phone would include dual SIM cards and offer support for GSM, WCDMA, and LTE.
