Spanish travel technology provider Amadeus has agreed to acquire Accenture’s subsidiary Navitaire for $830m.
Navitaire provides technology and business solutions to more than 50 airlines, rail and bus operators, including several hybrid and low-cost carriers.
As per the deal, about 550 Navitaire employees, including the company’s senior management team, will be transferred to Amadeus.
The acquisition would allow Amadeus to improve the connectivity between different carriers in the same airline groups or their alliances.
The addition of Navitaire’s portfolio would allow Amadeus to serve a larger group of airlines.
The transaction, which is anticipated to close in the fourth quarter, is expected to have a minimal impact on Amadeus’ financial performance this year.
Amadeus president & CEO Luis Maroto said: "Bringing Navitaire’s experience, industry know-how, client base and strong product portfolio is a significant step for Amadeus in the low-cost and hybrid-carrier segments.
"Airlines of all shapes and sizes face an increasingly competitive market for an increasingly demanding traveler, and this transaction will give us the ability to serve all airlines with technology that can enable them to drive new revenues and contain their costs."
have also agreed to form an alliance for providing outsourced IT services to airlines.
The alliance will integrate industry solutions and experience of both Amadeus and Navitaire with Accenture’s aviation expertise and worldwide capabilities in technology, analytics, cloud, mobility and operations.
