CA Technologies has acquired test data management firm Grid Tools to expand its DevOps portfolio.

Grid Tools, which was established in 2004, is headquartered in Oxford, UK with offices in New York, US.

The company provides enterprise test data management, automated test design and optimisation software solutions, which enable organisations to speed up their quality lifecycle and reduce the time as well as resources for bringing products to market.

CA said the acquisition allows automated testing of software for faster development and time to market. Grid-Tools’ products will be used to build software utilising agile development methodologies.

The move follows CA Technologies’ recent purchase of Rally Software, a provider of agile development software and services, for $480m.

CA Technologies executive vice president of strategy and corporate development Jacob Lamm said: "The global application economy requires our customers to deliver higher quality applications faster than ever before. Legacy testing tools and reliance on manual testing are not suited for the speed and number of changes necessary to achieve continuous delivery.

"Adding Grid-Tools’ leading test solutions, development and test teams can accelerate the entire lifecycle while freeing up valuable resources to perform more value added activities."

Grid-Tools co-founder Huw Price said: "The combination of CA Technologies and Grid-Tools provides enterprises with a strong option to bring testing to the next level by removing bottlenecks in their software development lifecycle."
