The Institution of Electrical Engineers’ annual travelling Faraday Lecture to schools and colleges is getting bigger all the time, and this year the lecture, presented by ICL, is to be distributed free on video to all secondary schools and technical colleges – with funding from the Department of Trade & Industry and Manpower Services Commission – so that all pupils who missed seeing it live can still benefit from it; a related competition, asking school teams to forecast the role of information technology in the year 2001, has as the first prize, an intensive week giving the winning team the opportunity to see information technology in action at several leading UK companies, with ICL picking up the tab.
