Centrum Communications Inc, San Jose provider of remote network access systems, reports that it has raised $6.5m in a second round of venture capital financing. The company says the remote network access market is viewed by many as the next hot spot on the expanding communications network horizon – and with no clear winner yet, the field is wide open. Proceeds from the financing will be used to fuel market growth through research and development efforts. It claims to be the only one with a full suite of remote network access options, supporting all popular networking protocols for both Ethernet and Token Ring local networks. The financing was led by Matrix Partners of Menlo Park, with additional investments from Accel Partners of San Francisco and Mayfield Partners of Menlo Park.
