Tel-Aviv, Israel-based New Dimension Software Ltd has acquired the Tandem Performance Monitor product from Enlighten Software Solutions Inc, the San Mateo, California-based systems management company. Enlighten is currently making the transition from a supplier of management tools for the old Tandem Computers Inc Guardian product range to a supplier of out of the box Unix and Windows NT products (CI No 3,240). The Tandem Performance Monitor is in use at 450 customer sites worldwide. New Dimension will pay Enlighten $2.5m, followed by royalty payments for the next three years. It will also take on 12 Enlighten developers to work at its North American base in Irvine, California. New Dimension, which specializes in the management of data center production flow software, will rename the tool to fit in with its Control line of scheduling and security administration products. The company, which recently won its largest ever contract, a $4.3m sale to the US Defense Information Systems Agency involving MVS, Unisys, Unix and Tandem systems, says the new vibrancy in the Tandem market since Tandem’s acquisition by Compaq Computer Corp will provide it with an opportunity for accelerated revenue growth. The company had revenues last year of $43.6m.
