The future of Nixdorf’s Comet Software seems to be secure now even for the chemical divisions of manufacturing organisations. This has given great joy to the Hamburg-based Datarat Systemberatung GmbH which says it will continue developing its Comet Blending PPS system at full throttle with every intention of taking it to Spain and Portugal in the near future. The PPS product, which is being optimised for prescription-oriented organisations – especially in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries – is available in five languages to date and runs under the Niros IBM-compatible operating system, MVS-ESX and with a little help from the Cross Basic runtime system – also under Unix. Datarat is a subsidiary of Nixdorf and as such is now working for Siemens-Nixdorf Informationssysteme AG.
