A tiff is reported in the relationship between Microsoft Corp and cable giant Comcast Corp, the company in which it is investing $1bn. Microsoft is believed to be unhappy that it hasn’t received favorable treatment from Comcast in negotiations on technical standards for the cable industry’s set-top boxes. Intel Corp has already split with Microsoft on the issue and is backing a standard led by Network Computer Inc, majority-owned by Microsoft’s arch-rival Oracle Corp. Publicly, Comcast and Microsoft insist their relationship is fine.
