Following its acquisition by AT&T Co, data communications equipment specialist Paradyne Corp, now known as AT&T Paradyne, is introducing a network management system to integrate its equipment with that of AT&T. The 6800 Series Network Management System, which is also offered as an upgrade to preserve much of existing customers’ investment in AT&T and AT&T Paradyne equipment, incorporates Unix-based workstations and processors, an interface to AT&T’s Accumaster Integrator, a gateway to AT&T Paradyne’s Analysis 6510, and a Dataphone II diagnostic protocol. Largo, Florida-based AT&T Paradyne says the 6800, which pinpoints faults by detecting deterioration in real-time and displaying them on a network map, also has a new diagnostic protocol with increased management capabilities. The 6800 Series – probably one in a series of products bringing AT&T Paradyne equipment into line with that of its parent company – ranges in price from around $33,700 for support to a 1,000 devices, to $146,700 for a system supporting 10,000. The 6800 will be available in the US, under controlled distribution, by early 1990; look for it elsewhere in the second quarter of that year.
