Apple Computer Inc says the final version of QuickTime 3.0 will be launched at the MacWorld in January next year and the public beta is version has now been released. However, the MPEG-1 decode will not be out for a further 60 days after the product ships so users won’t be able to develop DVD-ROM content using QuickTime until then, Steve Bannerman, senior product manager for QuickTime explained. Apple’s next project includes developing a full architecture for streaming QuickTime files across the internet but Bannerman could not say when this version would be ready.
